The Zisan Memorial is a monument in the southern region of the Mongolian capital, Ulan Bator, that honors the Mongolian and Soviet soldiers killed in World War II. The memorial is located on a hill in the southern part of the city, and features a circular mural depicting scenes of friendship between the people of the Soviet Union and Mongolia Such as Soviet support for the declaration of independence of Mongolia in 1921, the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army by the Soviets at Khalkhin Gol on the Mongolian border in 1939, the victory over Nazi Germany, and peacetime achievements such as Soviet space flights, including the flight from Soyuz 39 that carried the first Mongolian into space. In addition, those who climb to the monument get a wonderful panoramic view of the entire city of Ulaanbaatar.
