Information about Winter Palace of the Bogd Khan
Bogd Khan Winter Palace was built as a two-storey building in European style, according to the design of an architect from Tsarist Russia. Buddhist motifs were added to the roof and the walls were painted with lotus patterns, in order to make the palace look like a Buddhist temple. Bogd Khan spent 20 winters in this building. Today, the palace is included in a museum of seven Summer Temples and the Winter Palace, and its collections include unique and valuable pieces relating to Mongolia's political, religious and artistic history from the 17th to early 20th centuries, such as bronzes, silk paintings and paper figures made by famous artists and craftsmen from those period, besides proprietary clothing and equipment.
