The mausoleum of Yusuf ibn al-Qusair was built in 1161-1162 AD in the city of Nakhchivan. The Nakhchivan Mausoleum was nominated for the list of World Heritage Sites, UNESCO in 1998. This small octagonal building was built of baked bricks and finished with a pyramid-shaped roof. It has a ligature written in the Kufic script from the Qur’an at the top of the mausoleum. The upper part of the mausoleum is decorated with geometric motifs, and under it there is a building ligament that indicates the name of the person buried and the date of construction of the shrine. .
