Sultan Selim I Mosque, also known as Yavuz Selim Mosque, is an Ottoman imperial mosque located on the top of the fifth hill in Istanbul, overlooking the picturesque Golden Horn. It was built in the city, commissioned by the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, in memory of his father, Selim I, who died in 1520, and was completed in 1528.
