Housed in a renovated 19th century guest house, the Durham World Heritage Site Visitor Center is a free facility open 7 days a week with staff and volunteers available to provide advice and information about the city of Durham and its rich heritage. The Visitor Center provides visitors with an overview of the World Heritage Site including information about what it means to be a World Heritage site, what makes Durham so important and what you can do in this beautiful city. The site includes a small medieval herb garden, and interesting exhibits showcasing the development and growth of the city from the time of its establishment to the present day. .
