Information about Wat Phra Kaew
Wat Phra Kaew is one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist temples in Chiang Rai. It was once surrounded by a thick yellow bamboo grove. In 1434, an octagonal Chinese lightning struck the temple, and it collapsed to reveal the Emerald Buddha that was hidden inside. The temple also houses A 700-year-old bronze statue of King Cao Lan Thong (Phra Chao Lan Thong) in his Ordination Hall.
