Wat Pa Ao Rum Yen is located north of Chiang Rai city amidst green hills. Its main attractions are the Golden Chedi and the Viharn, which is distinguished by its unique Lanna-style architecture. It also includes a long staircase protected by two statues of mythical creatures with bulging eyes, in addition to a number of Ceramic figurines of animals, accompanied by amulets arranged in the middle of the various wooden beams.
