One of the most important places in Belarus is Victory Square which is dominated by the massive 40-meter-high obelisk, a memorial to the country's war dead. The square was formerly known as the Circus, and it was renamed Victory Square and turned into a memorial in 1954 AD when this obelisk was erected. Visitors and tourists constantly come to this square because it is a famous tourist attraction in the city and a place of pilgrimage for the people of Belarus who remember those who died in the Great Patriotic War (World War II), and perform prayers in memory of them.
