The Vigai Dam was built near Tamil Nadu and the Vigai Dam was built in 1959. It was established by the government of Tamil Nadu as an agricultural research station to research the cultivation of a variety of crops, including rice, sorghum, cowpea and cotton. It is one of the few dams that were not built between two mountains, so this dam depends entirely on its concrete strength, which is the main life line for farmers, providing them with the water needed for irrigation and drinking as well.
