Yeonhyun Palace is one of the smaller palaces in Seoul. It is an important historical site that is open to the public. It was once the private residence of Emperor Gojong's father, and Gojong lived there before he took the throne and held his wedding there. Annual reenactments are held here in the palace. For the royal wedding ceremony between Emperor Gojong and Empress Myeongseong, today visitors can see what has been preserved of the palace and take part in traditional cultural activities and handicraft experiences.
