It is a park where you can see beautiful views of Nairobi and city parks, a good place to buy antiques, it is open to the public and anyone can easily access it. The park was declared a memorial in 1966 due to its historical importance. The park is the first place where the Kenyan flag was raised as a sign of independence from Britain in 1963. The park contains a mgumo tree where this tree was planted at the place where the British flag was dropped and the first flag of the Republic of Kenya was raised.
