Nairobi is the capital and largest city in Kenya. It is a relatively new city that was founded in 1899. The city's name means "cold water" in the Maasai language, and this city is one of the most famous cities in the East African region. Although it is a modern city, its history is rich with events, as it was occupied by Britain, and was placed as the capital of the British East African colony, and in 1963 the city became free. The city extends over an area of 696 km, and has a population of nearly 3 million. In the city, you will find many museums that tell the history of the city with colonialism, and the ways that the national liberation movements followed to get rid of it, and among those museums there is the Nairobi City Museum. This city holds many festivals that celebrate Kenyan traditions and customs, and one of the places where the Kenya National Theater is held. This city is also characterized by the presence of many national nature reserves in which there are many types of African plants and animals, and it is definitely one of the favorite destinations for tourists who love safari and adventures.
