Information about Turbes Museum
The Cemetery Museum was established in Istanbul on February 15, 1978 to carry out cemetery services under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It includes about 122 tombs from several different regions in Istanbul, including the graves of well-known historical figures such as Suleiman the Magnificent, Sultan Ayyub, Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, Harem of Sultan and others. Most of these tombs were designed and built by the great architects of the Ottoman Empire. The museum also houses a collection of unique historical objects such as the Kaaba's curtains, the Qur'an, Arabic calligraphy paintings of the Ottoman sultans, sacred relics such as the Prophet Muhammad's beard and personal belongings of religious leaders.
