Tolancingo Cathedral or the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Hudaligo is a Catholic religious building that is an architectural work of colonial Mexico, and was built by the Franciscans in 1528 AD. A combination of majestic and simple architectural elements stands out in this stunning cathedral. The building was originally of smaller dimensions, but was renovated and expanded in 1788. The cathedral was distinguished by its sober and elegant gray stone, with a height of more than 54 meters from its base to the cross of the dome, and huge stones were used in building the walls, which are about one meter wide, and constitute an architectural masterpiece that still remains despite the succession of ages.
