The Tith Church is the first and largest stone church in Kiev and the burial place of the Kiev princes. Excavations in the foundations of the original church indicate that it was a structure of three naves with six columns and wide covered arcades on both sides, and it occupies an area of about 1,700 square meters, with numerous cruciform domes - a feature recorded in a source from the fourteenth century - that distinguished it from Byzantine prototypes made it a model in the further development of Ukrainian architecture.
