One of the most beautiful and natural wonders of Madurai, the Thiruprarankundram cave rock temple, which according to accounts dates back to the eighteenth century. India is characterized by containing a number of temples carved in the rock, but this temple has another description, it is the smallest and includes statues and artifacts belonging to Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati, and the cave contains one hall in which religious ceremonies and rituals are held. In view of the temple's ancient history and historical importance, it is under the supervision of the Indian Archaeological Survey.
