The wine gate still retains its function as an entrance to the city of the Alhambra as it was during the Nasrid period, and works to surround the residential and craft area inside the walled castle, and since it was an interior gate, it provided direct access to the castle, and is considered one of the oldest buildings in the Nasrid Alhambra Palace. It was built during the reign of Sultan Muhammad III (Muhammad III) between 1302 and 1309.
