Located beside the Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An, the Old House of Vung Hong is a famous architectural building, considered a cultural heritage of the city. The house is a typical commercial house with a unique structure with high logs and wide walkways, reflecting the evolution and fusion of Asian architectural styles in this city during the past centuries. The first owner of this house was a Vietnamese merchant, and he named the house "Phung Hung" meaning "prosperity" because he wanted the place to be successful. In the past, it was a shop selling forest products such as cinnamon, pepper, salt, silk, crockery and glassware; The current owner is the eighth descendant who still lives and maintains this old house.
