Information about The National Museum
The National Museum - Sultanate of Oman, established in 2013, is the main cultural institution of the Sultanate, displaying the nation’s heritage from the oldest human settlement in the Oman Peninsula about two million years ago to the present day, with a total building area of 13,700 square meters (147,000 square feet) , including 4,000 square meters (43,000 sq ft) dedicated to 14 permanent exhibitions including the Land and People Gallery, Naval History Gallery, Arms and Armor Gallery, Aflaj Gallery, Coin Gallery, Prehistoric and Ancient History Exhibitions, and Masterpieces of Pictures of Islam, Oman and the World Exhibition, the Intangible Heritage Exhibition and the Renaissance Exhibition. It constitutes an important cultural source for the Sultanate of Oman.
