The old British Consulate has the distinction of being the first British Consulate to be established in Taiwan and the oldest building in Western architecture. Visitors usually like to go up the hill via the old hiking route to the top, where the view of the surrounding mountain confluence is breathtaking. The building has become a National Historic Center and its facilities are used to display a wide range of local historical pieces and serve specialty English tea to visitors coming to enjoy the view of the sunset as it disappears behind the ocean in the horizon.
