Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiya is a Kuwaiti cultural institution that was established in February 23, 1983, and includes a private Kuwaiti art collection, owned by Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his wife Sheikha Hessa Sabah Al-Salem, the general supervisor of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiya. Dar Al-Athar is located in Kuwait City, specifically near the American Hospital, on the banks of the Arabian Gulf Street. Where Dar al-Athar takes the American Cultural Center as a temporary headquarters, while the building of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyya is being reconstructed in the Kuwait National Museum. The house was established for the purpose of displaying and managing the Al-Sabah Collection, a collection of Islamic art, on permanent loan to the State of Kuwait, under the auspices of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. The collection retains all the characteristics of Islamic art, and includes 20,000 masterpieces belonging to a world stretching from China to Al-Andalus.
