Tamsar Park is located in the center of Tallinn, in the immediate vicinity of the Estonia Theatre. A vacant lot was paved there in 1896, and became the new site of Tallinn's Market which had previously been located in Town Hall Square, and fairs were held next to the Market Square; Notably, it was home to the gigantic wooden indoor theater. The garden was redesigned in 1978 and it is interesting that there are more than 40 different woody plants in it.
