The Kadori Makor Haim Synagogue is the largest synagogue in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Europe. Built with donations from Jews from all over the world, it opened in 1938 at a time when synagogues were burning in Germany. This synagogue is a unique architectural monument, One of the most exceptional places of Jewish worship in the world, it is also the headquarters and “heart” of the Jewish community in Porto, which was founded in 1923 by Captain Barros Basto, who became famous in the Jewish world for his attempt to save the descendants of Jews who were forced to convert in the fifth century Ten who continued to practice some of the teachings of the Jewish religion secretly.
