Albert I (Albert 1) was Prince of Monaco from September 10, 1889 until his death. He devoted much of his life to oceanography and exploration. Besides his expeditions, he instituted reforms on the political, economic and social levels, granting a constitution to the Principality in 1911; A statue was erected in his memory.
