Stadium Park or City Park was built in the years between 1860 and 1862, and was opened in August 1862 as the city's first public park, with a total area of 65,000 square metres. It was constructed in the style of an English landscape garden and was designed by Joseph Selleny and Rudolf Siebeck. Statues of famous Viennese artists, writers and composers, including Hans Canon, Emil Jakob Schindler, Johann Strauss II, Franz Schubert and Anton Bruckner, are dotted throughout the park.
