The ruins of St. Paul’s Church are located on the top of St. Paul’s Hill in Malacca. It was built by the Portuguese captain Duarte Coelho in 1521 AD in appreciation of the Virgin Mary saving his life during a storm at sea, making it the oldest church in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, and it is located near the ruins of the castle Famosa, with tombstones and a statue of Saint Francis Xavier.
