The Serpentine Gate or Serpenoise was built on the ruins of another gate to determine the southern direction of the city since the third century AD, and then it was combined with the city wall, which was disposed of in the nineteenth century by the German authorities. It became known as the "Arc de Triomphe". This gate, which forms part of the urban landscape of Metz, is adorned with beautiful carvings. It has 4 towers, and regularly hosts various art events.
