Information about Selahaddin Eyyubi Mosque
The building of the Salah al-Din Mosque is located on Governor Fuad Bey Street in the city of Urfa. It is estimated that it was built in the early nineteenth century on the foundations of the Church of St. John the Baptist, which was built by Bishop Nona in 457 AD. The building was in ruins for many years and was used As a power station and repaired on May 28, 1993 and opened for worship as a mosque, the main prayer hall is illuminated by windows, and on the edges of the windows there are half-columns remaining from the church and dragon reliefs intertwined in each other, and due to the fact that Saladin used the first church as a mosque for a while, the mosque was named on his name.
