The Sayyida Ruqayyah Mosque is distinguished by its oriental (Iranian) architectural designs and exquisite decorations. It houses the tomb of Sakina bint Husayn (Ruqaiya, the young daughter of Hussain bin Ali, grandson of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him), who died in Damascus in 681.
