A highlight of Piazza Matteotti is the Jesuit Church of Santi Ambrogio and Andrea, built by Renaissance architect and artist Domenico Tibaldi. For many, this is the most beautiful interior of the church in Genoa, built in a lively Baroque style with marble, gilded frescoes, frescoes, and two paintings by Peter Paul Rubens. Although the facade was not added until the 19th century, it is based on drawings by Rubens.
