Information about San Sabino - Bari
The cathedral church of San Sabino is located in Brae in Italy and has important remains of Norman decoration. The construction of this church began after the Byzantine cathedral was destroyed in the eleventh century and was built on the same site by William I of Sicily in 1156, and was completed at the end of the twelfth century. Much of the interior space was restored to its Roman Apulian appearance, removing the Baroque "updates" and rebuilding the beautiful pulpit. Inside the church are the relics of Saint Columba and the relics of other saints. English signs on the site explain the finds, which include an ancient Christian mosaic floor, a chapel, and an altar. A small section of the original Roman road was also discovered.
