It is a 7-meter-high memorial to the Norwegian sailors through the ages, and this monument is located in the main square of the city of Bergen, Norway. Each side of the square monument represents a different era of sailing. It includes 12 statues and four reliefs, with three of the statues and one on each of the four sides. The monument, created by sculptor Dyre Vaa, was unveiled on June 7, 1950 in honor of the accomplishments of Norwegian sailors through the ages.
