Information about Rukhobod Mausoleum
Built in the year 1380 AD by Prince Tamerlan to house the remains of his teacher and his family, the Mausoleum of Sheikh Burhanuddin Sajirji is one of the oldest monuments in the city, and a place visited by tens of thousands of visitors each year. This landmark is also distinguished by its simple structure, as it is formed from a cubic base with symmetrical sides, topped by an octagonal cylinder on which rests a conical dome with a height of 22 meters. It is said that a lock of the hair of the Prophet Muhammad was buried with the remains of the saint.
