It is a historical urban park, and one of the main tourist attractions in Manila. Spread over an area of 60 hectares of open lawns, ornamental gardens, ponds, paved paths and wooded areas, the park is a great place for a picnic and a nice time with family or friends. It is also the place where the Spanish colonial authorities executed national hero Jose Rizal, so the park's name was officially changed to bear the same name and includes a monument in his memory.
