The Wai and Gudalming River Gorges are artificial waterways featuring bridges and mills from the nineteenth century, stretching for nearly twenty miles through the heart of Surrey. 15 miles long between Guildford and Weybridge on the Thames, the Godalming Passage was opened to navigation in 1764 enabling boats to operate another four miles up the river.
