Zingaro Nature Reserve is the first nature reserve established in Sicily in May 1981 and is located almost entirely in the municipal territory of San Vito lo Capo near Trapani. The reserve stretches along seven kilometers of the coast of the Gulf of Castellammare and the mountain range. The place contains a large variety of rare and endemic plants, and it also contains many animals. Eco niches offer a great diversity that is not easily found in other parts of the region. In Zingaro Reserve, there are at least 39 species of bird nests, mainly birds of prey. Zangaroo Protectorate includes not only the land but also the sea and beaches, which extend along the coast for about 7 km.
