Information about Qumran Caves
Khirbet Qumran is located 15 km south of Jericho, near the western shore of the Dead Sea. This is the site where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found, which were first discovered in 1947 by a Palestinian shepherd. The manuscripts consist of copies of the Bible and the writings of the Qumran community, including commentaries, sect laws, and manuscripts of the War of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Light. Darkness, the Damascus Document. The study of these manuscripts became an academic field known as Qumran studies, which provides us with valuable information about the history of Judaism and the early stage of Christianity. The Qumran Visitor Center provides an audio show about Qumran, and you can see the canals, cisterns, tanks, tower, kitchen, assembly hall, pantry, pottery workshop, and kilns used by Qumran residents.
