The Romantic Quinta da Maserinha Museum in Porto is located in the stunning palace where Charles Albert of Sardinia found refuge after abdicating the throne when he was defeated by the Austrian Imperial Army, and spent the last year of his life here until his death in 1849 of tuberculosis. Notable for the aristocratic homes of the 19th century, it has a charming interior and beautifully decorated rooms with paint and masterpieces.
