It is a baroque square dating back to the period between 1608-1620 AD. At the time when the square was being built it was one of the first examples of city planning in Europe. The square takes the shape of an octagon, surrounded by Baroque buildings on four sides. There are also many statues in the square, in addition to a water fountain adorned with many stone carvings. The square is equipped with the latest lighting technology, which makes it a beacon ignited at night.
