Information about Fontana Pretoria
The Praetorian Fountain is a huge fountain in Palermo located in the heart of the historical center of the city, and is one of the most important features of Pretoria Square. The fountain was commissioned by Francesco Camiliani in Florence in 1554 AD, but was then moved to Palermo in 1574 AD by dismantling it into 664 pieces, and a number of buildings were demolished to make way for the fountain. The fountain includes 48 stone statues, and is surrounded by a wooden nursery made up of 90 wooden columns.
