An ancient archaeological tower dating back to the sixteenth century AD, it was part of the historic Oldenburg fortifications until the beginning of the seventeenth century, and the building was used to store gunpowder during the period between 1730 and 1765 during the Danish rule of the region. It is a circular red brick building with a conical roof resembling a dome. Today, the tower houses a ceramic museum that displays many of the crafts carved on porcelain and earthenware panels.
