Information about Prague Meridian
The Prague meridian, or meridian, marked by the shadow of the Marian column on the pavement of Prague's Old Town Square at right noon, was drawn to mark the noon time in the city. The meridian (14th meridian), laid in the paving of the Old Town Square near the memorial to Jan Hoss, forms part of the Marian Column, and the meridian is defined by the Column of the Virgin, which was destroyed in 1918. Today, this line is considered a distinctive geographical and touristic feature of the city, and has earned it a special fame.
