Information about Pomnik Yanku Kupala
The Yanka Kupala memorial was erected in Minsk in 1972 to celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of the great Belarusian national poet Yanku Kupala, the winner of many international awards, whose works have been translated into many languages. The memorial itself is a full-length statue of Yanka Kupala with a stick in his hand, standing on a huge granite plinth, and at the bottom of the monument there is a small spring and a fern. The memorial is meant to personify Kupala as a poet-fighter.
