The Eliza Urzyskwa monument was unveiled in the city park in Grodno in 1929. Today, thanks to the people of the city who managed to save the statue, it is the oldest monument in the city. The idea of erecting a monument to the great writer in Grodno appeared immediately after her death in 1910, but the tsarist authorities did not want to hear about this. Grodno's residents were not forgotten, but they had to wait more than two decades for the end of World War I to implement their plan. Indeed, the process of erecting the monument was completed, and it became one of the city's distinctive landmarks.
