The Baia Mare Planetarium was inaugurated on July 1, 1969. It is the first public planetarium in Romania and the only one of its kind in Transylvania. It is also one of the most important tourist, cultural and scientific attractions in Baia Mare. In 2015, it was fitted with the most modern astronomical equipment in Romania The most important of these is the Zeiss Skymaster ZKP4 star projector, which is an optical-mechanical and digital projector that uses LED technology with the highest clarity in the star field.
