In the years between 1710 and 1739, Nitra was struck by a deadly plague, which reduced the population of the city dramatically, so in the year 1750 the city's municipality erected this monument to commemorate the victims. It is one of the most beautiful landmarks in the city, as the monument was built in the Baroque style. The landmark is all made of white marble and has some beautiful golden details.
