This statue has become Nitra's best-known and one of the most important Slovak monuments, and this Korgon is a statue of the legendary Atlas figure built in the 1820s on the corner of the house of Bishop Josef Kluch. There is a legend associated with it as it was built during the Ottoman siege of the city, as it is said that there was a blacksmith in the city who went out of his work to fight the Ottomans and started throwing huge rocks at them, and then the attackers fled and the blacksmith became an example to follow.
