The Pera Museum, which opened its doors in June 2005, is the first step in a comprehensive cultural initiative implemented by the Sona Foundation and Inan Kerach to provide cultural and artistic services in this distinctive part of the city. The museum includes many distinctive art collections belonging to a group of Turkish artists. There are "Orientalist Painting" and "Anatolian Weights and Measures" collections. The museum engages its audience through exhibitions, publishing products, oral activities, film screenings, educational programs and scientific studies that are held in it, and aims to pass them on to future generations. It also hosts important names from international art with its periodic exhibitions.
