Located in the heart of Messina, the Palazzo Monte dei Pita was built in 1616 AD on the ruins of an old church dedicated to Saint Basil. The current building of the palace was designed by the architect Natale Masuccio. The palace was subjected to many restoration operations that led to the addition of many different architectural elements to the palace. The building was renovated in 1741 and a bell tower and a staircase were added, in addition to a water fountain adorned with a number of stone statues. And held inside the palace at the present time many national celebrations and art exhibitions.
