The Paso de Gela is an outstanding example of medieval and modern civil architecture in Portugal, designated a National Monument in 1910, and its origin is closely related to the formation of the medieval "Land of Valdives", its construction representing a new era of royal protection and control over the area, highlighting its deep originality and importance. Today, the medieval tower and apartment building can be seen at this archaeological site, with art-style windows and a guard gate built mostly in the 16th century.
